Whilst I have never had a problem with it, I have heard some reports that salvia smoke can be quite acrid and uncomfortable. Whether or not you are affected by this really does depend on how much smoking you’ve done in the past, how much salvia smoke you’re trying to inhale in one go, the type of the gear you got when you decided to buy salvia, and of course how generally sensitive you are to this kind of thing.

The last thing you want once you’ve made the effort – and shelled out the money – to buy salvia is for it to be unpalatable. If you are going to buy salvia then you want to have some kind of guarantee that you’ll be able to use it for its desired effect!

Salvia has to be burnt at very high temperatures, and it is this heat that makes the smoke painful and acrid tasting. The answer to this potential problem is to use a bong with water in it. As the smoke passes through this water it cools the smoke and makes it easier to inhale and take back. The cooler air hurts considerably less!

If you’re planning to buy salvia any time soon then it might make sense to consider buying a bong with which to smoke it.
