Technical Professionals - Emissions
Emissions Reduction Estimator Tool

A simple CHP Emissions Reduction Estimator is provided as a downloadable Excel spreadsheet. This Emissions Estimator provides the amount of reduced emissions in terms of pounds of CO2, SO2, and NOX based on input from the User regarding the CHP technology being used.

The User needs to input the following information:

Building Alternative Distributed Power Source
  • Peak Electric Load
  • Power Source Equipment Type
  • Peak Cooling Load
  • Size of DG Equipment
  • Cooling Equipment Type
  • Efficiency of DG Equipment
  • Cooling Equipment COP
  • Waste Heat Available Cooling
    Method Equipment Type
  • Additional Electricity Associated with Cooling Load
  • % Waste Heat Available Cooling
    Method Equipment Type
  • Fuel being replaced or State in
    which application is being installed
  •

A convenient data entry reference sheet is provided below to collect the needed information for data entry. In turn the User will be provided with information regarding the benefits from the CHP system including:

    Electricity Demand Reduction Emissions Reduction
(per kW & total for application)
  • Total Reduced Peak Electricity Demand
  • Pounds of CO2
  • Additional Reduced Electricity
    Demand From Waste Heat Recovery
  • Pounds of SO2
  • Kilowatts Saved with Waste Heat Cooling
  • Pounds of NOx
  • Click CHP Emissions Reduction Estimator to access a downloaded version of the spreadsheet.

    Data Entry Reference Sheet

On the CHP Emissions Reduction Estimator, the white cells represent cells where data needs to be input; yellow cells represent calculated values.
