Absorption Chiller Primary focus of this view is the 20-RT single-effect absorption chiller manufactured by Broad USA. It operates using only the energy in the exhaust gases it receives at 500oF from the microturbine. The absorption chiller has COP of 0.7. Chilled water from the absorption chiller is sent to the cooling coil in one of the two roof-top-units (RTUs).

Exhaust gases at 225oF from the absorption chiller are used for regenerating a solid desiccant system, located on the roof, for reducing humidity in the air it supplies to one of the RTU. The solid desiccant system, DryHandler, manufactured by ATS has an air processing capacity of 3,000 CFM.

Utilization of the thermal energy in the chiller exhaust gases for regenerating the solid desiccant system, improves the overall efficiency of energy utilization from 63.5% to 79.2%.

A click on the "inspect" area shown on the absorption chiller allows a view of the equipment behind the panel. It only allows a close-up with zooming capabilities but does not provide a 360-degree panoramic view.
