NOTICE: The Honeywell Parallon microturbine shown in the ground floor menu of the tour has been replaced with a Capstone microturbine.
| Microturbine | The microturbine, Capstone C60, has a rated capacity for producing 60 kW (at ISO conditions of 59oF) of electrical power for the building. It is connected to the grid and supplies part of the 300 kW needs of the buildings.
Thermal energy in the exhaust gases (at 600oF) of the microturbine is used for operating a 20-ton absorption chiller located adjacent to it. Energy efficiency of the microturbine for producing electric power is 28%. Utilization of the thermal energy in its exhaust gases for powering the absorption chiller improves the overall efficiency of energy utilization to 72%. The opening view of this tour shows the control-panel end of the microturbine. Click on any of the targets to access tours from those locations. The target on the right will also provide access to a tour of the control room. A click on the control panel allows a view of the equipment behind the control panel. It only allows a close-up with zooming capabilities but does not provide a 360-degree panoramic view. |
