| Goettl Chillers | This is a tour of the two 22-RT natural gas engine-driven chillers, manufactured by Goettl.
The heat exchangers located between the two chillers are used to recover thermal energy from the exhaust gases of the engines. The recovered energy is used for regenerating the 3000 CFM capacity liquid desiccant unit located at the other end of the roof on the left side of the orange color equipment. This desiccant system, manufactured by Kathabar, is used for removing moisture in the fresh air intake for the building. Reducing humidity in the incoming air provides two benefits: reduces the cooling load for the air conditioners and improves indoor air quality by preventing the growth of mold and bacteria. The liquid refrigerant from the condensers of these chillers is sent to a new cooling coil installed in the existing RTU#1, located on the right side of the Goettl chillers. |
